We have all worked so hard with our Christmas play “Lights, Camel, Action”
A very special visit to see Maureen today, one of our lovely parishioners. We gave her a Christmas card that we made, a Christmas hamper and we sang some Christmas carols.
We had a wonderful Party day!
It was tricky making our snowman Christmas cards - how great do they look!
The children had such fun at our Christmas Fair spending all their jingle bills
A special visitor in Year 1
We loved visiting Father Christmas in his special grotto
We should be very tired today after Fitness Friday. Enjoy the photos. 😀
We are busy getting ready for Advent in Year 1. We know that Advent is a time when we prepare to celebrate the birthday of Jesus.
We all said a very special prayer together.
"God our Father , we ask you to bless our plans for Advent. Help us to prepare well for the birth of your son Jesus, so that when Christmas comes we can celebrate with Mary and all your friends.
Amen."
We have started to write our Advent promises, thinking about extra things we can do each week as we get closer to Christmas and we have started to make our own Advent wreath for our classroom Alter. We talked about the meaning of the Advent wreath and why we have the coloured candles. We also sang the beautiful song, This Little Guiding Light of Mine. Please ask your child to sing this for you at home!
We love playing the jelly bean game to help warm up our bodies for our PE lesson. The children enjoy reponding to the different actions: running bean, shaky bean, hopping bean, giant step bean, sun tan bean, tiny step bean, star jump bean, jogging bean, walking bean.
This week we tried some balancing, rolling, hoola hooping and jumping over the hurdles.
We have been talking about how much we have grown up and changed since we were babies. We loved looking at each other baby photos and trying to work out who each baby was. We talked about how much we have changed and we wrote about all the things that we can do now in Year 1 compared to when we were babies.
We use Letter-join every day in Year 1 to help us with our new cursive handwriting. We are improving every day and we know that practise makes perfect!
We took our Maths work outside today. We used hoops, bean bags, counters and chalk to work with the part-whole model.
We had an amazing time at the boot camp today. We were so impressed by the positive attitudes of all the children in year 1. It was so lovely to see their smiles as they ran round.
We celebrated Halloween by dressing up to look for signs of Autumn and complete our sound investigation.
World Mental Health Day 2020
We loved dressing up as Super heroes and dancing away at the silent disco.
We have been talking about promises this week and why God chose a rainbow to remind us of his promise. We listened to the story of Noah’s Ark which is all about a special promise that God made and the reminder He gave to us.
We made special rainbow wrist bands to help us remember God’s promise. 🌈
We drew pictures of Noah and the Ark and the beautiful rainbow in the sky to remind us of God’s promise.
We talked about how Noah felt when God told him there was going to be a flood. Noah loved and trusted God and he was a good person.
We we finished by asking “what will we think of the next time we see a rainbow?” Please do ask your child. 🌈
We work very hard during our Phonics time
We run the daily mile around the playground every afternoon... we are getting better and better and we know that practise makes perfect!
In our R.E work we have been talking about God’s beautiful world. We wrote lists of all the beautiful things around us including: flowers, blue skies, birds/parrots, rivers, new babies, stars at night and small cuddly kittens.
We listened to a beautiful piece of music, Beethoven’s Symphony 6 and we closed our eyes to say “thank you” to God in our hearts for all the beautiful things.
At lunch time each day we say a very special prayer to thank God.
”Thank you for the world so sweet,
thank you for the food we eat,
thank you for the birds that sing,
thank you God for everything
Amen”
