Can you have a discussion about different types of land use, physical and human features of our local area using some key vocabulary that we have been using in school?
Can you look at a map of our local area? (You might have some maps around your house)
What are the key features (special things) about maps? (Key, title, symbols, compass directions, colour code)
Have a look at Google Maps, can you find some of the landmarks and important places in our local area? (school, Church, shops, industry, housing, leisure facilities, open space)
Can you highlight these on your map using different colours?
Make a ‘scrapbook’ to record pictures, photographs, maps, tickets, leaflets and any interesting artefacts about our local area. Please bring this into school with you to share with your friends. We can't wait to see it.
Bakewell tart, Yorkshire pudding, Lancashire hotpot, Welsh Cakes, Devon cream tea, Soda bread, Cornish pasties…. can you adapt the recipe and make new variations!
