Rainbow Eruption.

Try the following experiment. You may want to try it outside...it may get a little messy.

Explorify

This website has fantastic science ideas! Lots of great small investigations. My personal favourite activities are Zoom in Zoom out and `Odd One Out`. For Year 1 the ages 5-7 section is the most appropriate. Take a look here.

Science Fun At Home

This is a great leaflet with lovely ideas for science at home. Take a look here.

Seasons

In Year 1 we learn about the seasons. Going out on your walk and looking at the trees, flowers and the changing weather.  Why not collect a few leave, twigs, blossom, petals on your walk and make some seasons artwork. The example below is some artwork linked to autumn. Try making one for summer and spring.

Why not try freezing some of your findings on your walk. All you need is either an egg shell, ice-cube try or any small container. Take your egg shell, place your flower inside, fill with water and freeze.

Experiments

Take a look at this website for lots of different experiments that you can try at home.
