Christ is risen! Happy Easter!
Christ is risen! Happy Easter!
"In the light of Easter, let us allow ourselves to be amazed by Christ! Let us allow our hearts to be transformed by his immense love for us! " Pope Leo XIV Easter 2026
Lent
The KS2 Easter performance, led with confidence and maturity by our Year 6 pupils, was a moving and memorable retelling of the powerful story of Holy Week. Through a combination of thoughtful narration, expressive acting and uplifting music-The children brought to life the key events from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday with clarity and reverence.
Year 6 took on the responsibility of guiding the audience through this important Christian story, demonstrating both leadership and a deep understanding of its meaning. Their portrayal of the final days of Jesus’ life captured moments of joy, sorrow and hope, helping the audience to reflect on themes of sacrifice, forgiveness, and new beginnings.
Younger pupils supported the performance beautifully, contributing through song, creating a true sense of community across KS2. The atmosphere was both reflective and celebratory, as the message of Easter was shared in a way that was accessible and engaging for all.
Overall, the performance was a testament to the pupils’ hard work, teamwork and respect for the significance of the story they were telling. As always, it was a proud moment for the school and a meaningful way to mark the Easter season.
During Holy Week, our school community engaged in a range of meaningful and reflective activities. The children reverently took part in the Stations of the Cross in church, deepening their understanding of Jesus’ journey. Across the school, pupils followed a Lenten prayer trail, providing opportunities for quiet reflection and spiritual growth.
Creativity flourished through our “Seeing Jesus through the Eyes of Mary” art project, where the children expressed their thoughts and faith through spirited and thoughtful artwork. Our learning also embraced the teachings of St Francis of Assisi, with a focus on caring for God’s creation and recognising our responsibility to the world around us.
We were delighted to welcome St Hugh’s as part of our Diocesan prayer trail, sharing in a wider community of faith. The week culminated in a powerful Easter performance led by our Year 6 pupils, who retold the Easter story with confidence, reverence, and great impact.
Advent Carol Service
We are extremely proud of our Key Stage 2 children for their beautiful and reverent performance of the Christmas story at our Advent Carol Service. Through their words, actions and joyful singing, they brought the message of Christ’s birth to life, reminding us of God’s love made visible in Jesus. Their performance reflected key principles of Catholic Social Teaching, particularly human dignity, solidarity, and love for the poor and vulnerable, as they shared the story of hope, peace and compassion at the heart of Christmas. It was a truly special celebration of faith, community and service to others.
Jubilee Icons
As part of our Jubilee celebrations, we were delighted to welcome the Jubilee Icons to our school today from Holy Family School. The Icon is travelling around the schools of the Diocese, and we are blessed to host it for a few days before it moves on.
The Icons are photographs of a beautiful stained-glass window in Shrewsbury Cathedral, depicting The Visitation, the second Joyful Mystery of the Rosary. This scene shows Mary visiting her cousin Elizabeth to share the joyful news that she is expecting Jesus. The Icon was blessed by Bishop Mark at Easter and is now making its pilgrimage to every school in the Diocese of Shrewsbury.
We welcomed the Icon with a torchlight procession alongside Holy Family School. Two Reception children, dressed as Mary and Elizabeth, greeted the children as they arrived. We then gathered as a whole school for a Celebration of the Word.
During its time with us, each class will have the opportunity to learn more about the image of The Visitation, taken from one of the Margaret Rope windows in the Cathedral, and to spend time in prayer, reflection, and contemplation.
Advent
Stay and Pray
Throughout November, we take time to remember and pray for our loved ones and family members who have passed away. As part of our Festival of Light, the children, together with their families, lovingly decorated small glass jars in memory of a cherished loved one now in heaven. These beautiful jars are displayed in school as part of our remembrance display, creating a touching tribute to those we hold dear. The jars will also be presented during our Whole School Community Mass at 9:30am on the Feast of Christ the King, Sunday 23rd November.
