Faith in Action

Our Faith In Action Team
Our Chaplains

We are really excited to be Year 6 Chaplains this year – there is so much to do! Our role is to help everyone in school live out the Gospel values by showing kindness, respect and care. We help set up and lead prayers, Masses and services, and support the staff and prayer leaders in classrooms. We also take care of preparing for the Celebration of the Word on Mondays, making sure everything is ready so worship runs smoothly. As Chaplains, we want to be champions for anyone in need, encouraging our school to take part in charity, care for God’s World and look after each other. Through all we do, we really try to shine God’s light and spread joy, peace and love in our school family.

This week, our school and parish community came together to celebrate the Feast of Christ the King, a moment that marks both the end of the Church’s year and a powerful reminder of Christ’s reign of truth, love and peace. Gathered in prayer and reflection, we honoured Jesus Christ, our King and the Light of the World, opening our hearts to His guidance and His call to share His light with others.

As this feast falls in November, the month of remembrance, we also remember loved ones who have died. Our beautifully decorated remembrance jars, filled with names, prayers and cherished memories, were displayed as a symbol of hope. They remind us that through Christ the King, the promise of eternal life continues to shine, even in moments of sorrow.

A special part of our celebration was the commissioning of our Year 6 Chaplains. These pupils have committed themselves to serving our school community through prayer, compassion, and leadership. As they received their commissioning, we recognised their important role in helping to nurture faith, kindness and unity throughout our school.

October Is the Month of the Holy Rosary

At the end of his audience on September 24th, Pope Leo noted that October was approaching and that with the Oct. 7 feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, the Catholic Church traditionally dedicates the whole month to praying the rosary.

"I invite everyone to pray the rosary every day during the coming month for peace personally, with your families and in your communities," he said.

All Welcome to Our Tuesday morning Rosary Club at 8:30am

Thank you for your wonderful harvest donations for Sale West Hub foodbank...

The Faith in Action group and the Mini Vinnies worked closely together to plan and lead the MacMillan Cake and Coffee Sale before and after school. Guided by our school values, we showed kindness by giving our time to help others, tried our best by organising and running the event carefully, and worked together as a team to make sure everything went smoothly. By combining our ideas and efforts, we created a welcoming and successful fundraiser that brought our school community together for a great cause.

Faith in Action – Planning Meeting with Mrs Fagan and Mrs Murphy

The Year 6 Chaplains gathered together for their very first Faith in Action planning meeting. There was a real buzz of excitement in the room as we reminded ourselves of our special role: to help everyone in school live out the Gospel values through kindness, respect and care.

We began by discussing the Celebration of the Word on Mondays. Our priority was to make sure everything is always ready – from the candles and cloths on the prayer table to the readings and music. A rota was suggested so that each Chaplain has a clear responsibility, ensuring nothing is forgotten and worship runs smoothly.

Next, we thought about how we could encourage prayer throughout the week. We decided to support staff and prayer leaders by holding a meeting with class prayers to offer support and guidance. We are looking forward to our training session with Mrs Perkins, a former Chaplain from Loreto Grammar.

The group then turned its attention to charity and care for others. We shared ideas for raising money for those in need, such as a Harvest collection for the local foodbank and a Christmas gift appeal. We also planned to look after God’s world by supporting each class with their stewardship mission.

Our first task is to work with the Minnie Vinnie group in organising the MacMillan coffee and cake event. Then in October we will be promoting the month of the Holy Rosary by selling Rosary Beads and leading Rosary club on a Tuesday morning at 8:30am- All welcome
