Jesus's Mission

This week we have learnt about Jesus's mission and how we can follow in his footsteps. The children then created their own posters to show how we can spread love, kindness and peace.

Candlemas

We created our own beautiful pieces of artwork to show that Jesus is the light of all nations, just as Simeon had said in The Presentation.  We used wax crayons to draw our ideas and then used water paint to wash over.

The Presentation

In our Vine and Branches this half-term we are focusing on Galilee to Jerusalem. We started the half-term learning about The Presentation. We then worked in a team group to act out the story.

Our Wonderful Nativity Cast

We are so proud of all the children in our Nativity cast. Everyone did a wonderful job learning their words, singing the songs, and sharing the special story of Jesus’ birth with big smiles and brave voices. Their hard work, kindness, and teamwork helped spread God’s love and joy, making the performance truly special for everyone who watched.

Advent Art

The Visitation

We listened to the Gospel of Luke and retold the Visitation through roleplay.

Advent

We welcomed our families in to celebrate the start of advent. We remember the hope that Jesus gives, the Peace he brings to our hearts, the Joy we feel, he is on his way and the Love that God gave his only son to us.

Prayer Session with our Families

We welcomed our families to join us for our Prayer Session. We discussed the charity CAFOD and how we had decided we wanted to raise money for the poor and vulnerable, our school mission for the half term. We ask God to help us to be kind, loving and ready to share. We responded by making money cups to go forth and collect small coins to support CAFOD.

God's World

The children responded to the questions using their knowledge and understanding.

The Annunciation

We listened to the story of the Annunciation from the Gospel of Luke. We then looked at different pieces of art representing the Annunciation. We talked about what we liked about each piece of art. We wrote which was our favourite piece and why.

God's Creation

We have loved learning about God's creation and decided to plant our own bulbs to show this. The children worked in groups, discussing why plants need soil, water and light to grow. We planted hyacinth bulbs and will place them on our class tables so we can watch them grow, seeing the beauty of God's creation and smelling the wonderful flowers.

October Prayer Service

We were delighted to welcome parents, grandparents, carers, and families to our recent prayer service led by the children. In October, the month dedicated to the Rosary, we focused on the Joyful Mysteries, reflecting on these special moments in the life of Jesus and Mary:

  1. The Annunciation

  2. The Visitation

  3. The Nativity

  4. The Presentation in the Temple

  5. The Finding of Jesus in the Temple

During the service, the children listened attentively to the Gospel - Luke 1:29-32, which tells the story of the Annunciation. They shared their thoughts on how Mary might have felt - nervous, scared, happy, and excited - and recognized her bravery. Our Year 2 children read the Scripture passages beautifully, while Year 1 contributed thoughtful and insightful answers. To respond, the children sang Gentle Woman and made bookmarks for Mary as a reminder that she is always with us.

They then prayed the Hail Mary together and discussed our mission going forward: How can we be brave like Mary? The children shared personal examples, including, “I was brave when I was on a zip line,” and “I was brave when I started my first day of school.”

We thank everyone who joined us in sharing these meaningful moments of faith and reflection.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary

We created our own Rosary bracelets. This was a great fine motor skills' activity too.

We then prayed a decade of the Rosary

Our Father

We listened to the Gospel of Luke 11: 1-4 'The Lord's Prayer' and then discussed the meaning. We talked about the love God shows and how when we say the prayer 'Our Father/The Lord's Prayer' that we are close to him., giving thanks.

Jesus is the light of the world.

The children wanted to continue sharing Jesus's love. We listened to the Gospel of John 8:12-13 'I am the light of the world'. We responded by creating our own candle artwork to show our light. Going forth, we show forgiveness and share a smile to bring people into the light and out of the darkness.

Prayer Session - Jesus Loves Us

The children chose to think and pray to Jesus this week for our prayer session, to thank him for loving us. We listened to the Gospel of Luke 5:17-26 'Healing of the paralysed man'. We talked about how we can show our love and then responded by writing about who we love and how we can show this.

The Story of His Creation

We listened to the story of Creation. We talked about the different things God put into our worlds described in the book of Genesis in the Bible. The children created their own world as we followed the story and then discussed why God's creations were important.

Our Stewardship Mission

Our theme this half-term is Stewardship. Our class mission is to look after our playground and keep it clean and tidy.

 God's Love

In this week's prayer session, the children shared heartfelt reflections on the many ways God shows His love for us. They expressed how God’s love makes them feel safe, happy, and cared for. It was a beautiful moment of faith, kindness, and community as the children deepened their understanding of God’s unconditional love.

 God's Creation

We spent time in our prayer garden reflecting and thinking about the beautiful world God created. Giving thanks to him for all that he did for us.
