Summer
Science
Year 1 enjoyed taking their science learning outdoors this week as they explored the playground to discover different types of plants. The children searched for plants growing in unusual places, tall plants and those with lots of leaves and flowers. They used their observation skills to compare what they found and learnt more about how plants grow in different environments.
Airport Trip - Part 2
Computing
We started a new term using iPads. We explored the use of the camera, taking photos and making videos. Zooming in and out, focusing on an object to take a clear photograph. We talked about the importance of keeping our work safe, using passwords and deleting all our photographs and videos at the end of the lesson.
Spanish
This week we welcomed Christy into school. She taught us how to flamenco dance as part of our Spanish lessons. The children came dressed in red and learnt a little more about the Spanish culture too.
Maths
We had fun in maths this week playing snap to make our number bonds.
Our trip to the airport
We all had a fantastic time at the airport. The children loved exploring the play equipment, building on their physical abilities to start with after our coach journey. We then watch the aeroplanes land and take off, creating our own tally charts and also looking on a radar website to find out the flight information. After lunch, we took part in role-play, learning more about the jobs at an airport. The children loved being pilots and sitting in an old aircraft. A great day had.
