Summer
Taskmaster
Year 5 and Year 6 children took on a series of exciting Taskmaster Challenges, putting their teamwork, creativity, communication and problem-solving skills to the test.
Working in teams, the children tackled a variety of hilarious and imaginative tasks that required careful planning, quick thinking and a healthy dose of determination. From constructing unusual creations to solving tricky puzzles and completing seemingly impossible missions, every challenge encouraged them to think outside the box and work together towards a common goal.
Fun In the Sun
With temperatures soaring, our Year 5 and Year 6 children headed outside armed with water pistols, buckets, sponges and plenty of enthusiasm! Before long, the playground was filled with squeals of laughter, soaking surprises and good-natured attempts to dodge the next splash.
The afternoon was all about having fun together, making memories and celebrating the friendships that have grown throughout the year. There was lots of teamwork, plenty of laughter and even a few teachers who found themselves caught in the crossfire!
As the children cooled off in the heatwave, they were reminded that joy, friendship and shared experiences are all part of what makes our All Saints family so special. It was the perfect way to enjoy the sunshine, celebrate another successful year and create happy memories that will last long after everyone had dried off!
Stockport Air Raid Shelters
As part of our history learning on the Second World War, Year 6 enjoyed a fascinating visit to the Stockport Air Raid Shelters, where we stepped back in time to experience what life was like for ordinary families during the Blitz.
Descending deep beneath the sandstone cliffs, we explored the vast network of underground tunnels that once kept thousands of local people safe during air raids. Seeing the rows of bunks, first aid stations, toilets and family sleeping areas helped us to imagine the courage, resilience and community spirit shown by those who lived through the war.
Our knowledgeable guide brought history to life through engaging stories, artefacts and photographs, helping us understand the reality of wartime Britain. We discovered how families prepared for bombing raids, what children did to keep occupied while sheltering underground and how neighbours supported one another during times of uncertainty and fear.
The visit provided an unforgettable opportunity to bring our classroom learning to life. It deepened our understanding of evacuation, rationing and the experiences of civilians, while encouraging us to reflect on the importance of hope, perseverance and working together in difficult times.
We returned to school inspired by the remarkable bravery of those who lived through the Second World War, with a much greater appreciation of the sacrifices made to protect future generations. It was a memorable day that will stay with us for many years to come.
Year 6 enjoyed a special SATs breakfast each morning during SATs week! They tucked into pancakes, yoghurts, croissants and plenty of toast, helping them feel relaxed, confident and ready for the day ahead.
It was wonderful to see everyone arriving with smiles on their faces, enjoying breakfast together and supporting one another before the tests. We are incredibly proud of the positive attitude, determination and resilience they showed throughout the week — they truly performed fabulously!
As soon as Reasoning Paper 3 finished, a very special treat arrived — ice cream for everyone! It was the perfect way to celebrate the children’s hard work and effort throughout SATs week.
