Palm Sunday Prayer Session
Year 3 took part in a thoughtful and reflective prayer session focused on Palm Sunday. The children listened carefully to the Gospel of Luke 19:28-44, showing great respect and understanding as they heard about Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem. They confidently led their own prayers, making fantastic links to what the Gospel teaches us about kindness, humility and welcoming others.
The children took responsibility for setting up the prayer tables themselves, doing so with care and reverence. They were able to clearly explain the significance of Jesus’ journey into Jerusalem, demonstrating a growing understanding of this important. Through discussion, they reflected on how Jesus might have been feeling as He entered the city, as well as the emotions of the crowds who welcomed Him.
Using their imagination, the children considered what it would have been like to be there on that day, bringing the story to life in a meaningful way. It was wonderful to see their engagement, thoughtful responses and ability to connect the Gospel message to their own lives.
Desert to Garden
Our Year 3 Prayer Leaders are proud to help guide our class in prayer each day. They lead our daily prayers with confidence and kindness, helping everyone to take part in a calm and respectful way.
They also help to prepare our prayer space, making it a peaceful and special place for reflection. Through their role, they are learning to support others and grow in their faith.
We are very proud of their enthusiasm, responsibility, and the care they show in helping our class to pray together.
Prayer Session...
During our recent prayer session, Year 3 took time to pause, reflect, and build on our knowledge of the Liturgy of the Eucharist. In a calm and respectful atmosphere, we explored the question: How does God give Himself to us?
We linked our learning to the story of the Last Supper, as told in the Gospel of Mark 14:12–26. The children learnt how Jesus shared bread and wine with his disciples and asked them to remember him. This helped us deepen our understanding of why Holy Communion is such a special part of the Mass today.
Through quiet reflection, discussion, and prayer, the children shared thoughtful ideas and showed a growing understanding of how Jesus gives Himself to us in the Eucharist. It was a meaningful time for everyone to feel closer to God.
This half-term, the children have been exploring our topic Desert to Garden. As part of their learning, they have developed their understanding of confession and how to confess, which linked beautifully with their special celebration of First Forgiveness at church. The children also wrote excellent newspaper reports about Jesus feeding the 5000, showing both creativity and a strong understanding of the story. More recently, they have been learning about the Last Supper and are beginning to make thoughtful links between this important event and the miracle of Jesus feeding the 5000. Please take a moment to enjoy the wonderful work the children have produced.
Mass Led by Year 3
Year 3 led Mass brilliantly, with wonderful readers guiding the congregation and reflecting thoughtfully on our time in Lent. Year 5 also attended the service, joining in with the prayers and celebrations. The children showed great reverence throughout and sang “Follow Me, Follow Me” beautifully, creating a truly special and uplifting experience for everyone present.
Prayer Session
Our Year 3 pupils planned our Prayer Session They chose to explore God’s love and how we can love others. We studied the Bible Verse 1 John 4:19, ‘We love because He first loved us,’ and said a beautiful prayer. We talked about the special people we love and how we can show that love to them. Thank you for such great leadership, you did a fantastic job.
We continued our exploration of the Fruits of the Spirit in our special Celebration of the Word this morning. We gathered together in God's name and lit a candle to welcome His presence. We reflected on Galatian's 5:22-23 and thought carefully about the desirable character traits we can develop by being faithful to God.
Year 3 have been learning that, unlike other living things, humans have been made in God's image to be just like Him. We know that we have been blessed by the Fruits of the Spirit such as kindness, gentleness and self-control. Our thanks are to God.
Today we looked at the symbols in Genesis and found their meaning. We learnt that Adam and Eve represent the first man and woman, the snake is a symbol of evil and the garden is a symbol of a special place. Year 3 created their own Garden of Eden posters by applying their knowledge of the symbols represented. Well done Year 3.
We were delighted to be invited to a special Celebration of the Word with Mrs Murphy. We came together to show thanks to Our Mother Mary and listened to the Gospel of St Luke 1:26-38. We prayed the Rosary together and thought carefully about why Mary was blessed. We left by thinking about how we can be an example of Mary, how we can help someone in need, be kind and look after our world.
As part of our stewardship mission, Year 3 will be taking care of our school allotment. We will be tending to the soil carefully and propagating a range of plants and flowers. We are looking forward to observing the beauty of the natural world and thanking God for this mission. We can't wait to see what we can produce with God's help!
In our Celebration of the Word, we have gathered together as part of God's family to think about trust. We listened to a Bible reading from Luke 16:10-13 and thought about how we can do small things carefully to show God that, 'One who is faithful in very little is also faithful in much.'

Year 3 were absolutely delighted to choose our prayer leaders for this term. They have already started to lead us in our daily prayers and we are very thankful to them.

This term Year 3 have been learning about the Creation of the world and have revisited the Creation story written in the book of Genesis. We have celebrated and praised God for our wonderful world and written a prayer of thanks outlining all of the things we are grateful for. We are deepening our understanding that humans are made in the image of God and have listed how we can honour God by looking after our physical and spiritual bodies. We have thought deeply about how all people should be treated equally and with dignity. We are thankful to God our beautiful world, friends, family and pets.
