Summer
Summer 2
The Summer 2 theme is ‘Dialogue and Encounter’.
The children now have a real sense of ‘belonging’ to their class and school community. The children are learning that they belong to the Church family.
We will continue to explore scripture and the children will find out about the Friends of Jesus. They will hear about the life of St Peter and St Paul, friends of Jesus (linking to their feast day). We will share the story of Jesus calling Peter a rock on which He will build His church. The children will know that this meant Peter was going to do a very important job of spreading the word about Jesus – just like rocks do a very important job in buildings. Peter told lots and lots of people all around the world about Jesus and became the first leader of the Church – the first Pope.
We will be thinking about the word ‘Community’ and what our community and local area means to us. With this in mind, we would like to take the children on a walk of the local area. If you are able to join us, please let a member of staff know. Thank you!
The children have shown a great interest in their ‘surroundings’ and so we look forward to exploring this more with the children this half-term. We will also be encouraging the children’s writing through stories and experiences. Over the next few weeks, we will be exploring minibeasts –This is a great introduction to the topic and the different minibeasts the children can find, possibly in their own garden! Please see the link below.
A huge well done to all of our Sunflower Competition winners, and a big thank you to everyone who took part. 🌻 Your enthusiasm and fantastic entries made the competition a great success!
The children have had a great time this week using their imaginations playing in continuous provision this week.
Super Sentences
We have been working hard to develop our writing skills. The children are becoming increasingly confident and proud of their fantastic writing.

Sunflower Competition
We have enjoyed seeing how your sunflowers are growing at home. Well done for looking after them so carefully and helping them to grow tall and strong. By caring for your sunflowers, you are showing how we can be good stewards of God's world and look after the wonderful plants He has created.
Thank you for sharing your photographs on Tapestry. We loved seeing your sunflowers flourish and celebrating your hard work together. We can't wait to see the final results...
Happy Father's Day from Reception
Sports Day
The children had a fantastic time taking part in Sports Day. They all showed great enthusiasm as they completed their races. They loved seeing their friends and family cheer them on. Well done Reception!
We will be exploring lots of stories about Minibeasts over the next few weeks!
‘Mr Ordinary's Prize’- We will also have the pleasure of finding out about the story of the Manchester Coat of Arms – someone has stolen Mr Ordinary’s Thinking and Doing! What will he do without them? Mr Ordinary and his friends need our help to try to get them back!
Summer 1
To the Ends of the Earth
Growing
As we begin this half term, we reflect on the Year of St Francis and our Catholic Social Teaching focus of Stewardship. Inspired by St Francis’ love for God’s creation, we will encourage the children to appreciate and care for the world around them, recognising it as a precious gift from God.
For the first few weeks of the term, the children will be immersed in the rich world of traditional tales, exploring The Enormous Turnip and Jack and the Beanstalk. Through these stories, we will spark their curiosity and imagination while introducing the exciting themes of growing and healthy eating.
The children will develop and deepen their understanding of seeds, flowers and plants through hands-on exploration and discussion. This learning will be enriched through our seedlings growing in the greenhouse, where the children will observe changes over time and take an active role in nurturing them. As part of our focus on stewardship, the children will learn how to care for these plants by watering them regularly, ensuring they have enough sunlight and handling them gently. In doing so, they will begin to understand the importance of responsibility and how small actions can help protect and sustain God’s creation.
