Galilee to Jerusalem
This term the children will learn about God’s love and how Jesus cares for everyone. They will hear the story of the Wise Men visiting baby Jesus and learn that Jesus was born for all people. Through stories of Jesus welcoming and blessing the little children, the children will discover that everyone is special and loved and that we are called to show love to others just as Jesus did. The children will also be introduced to the Glory Be, a special prayer of praise and thanks to God.

The Feast of the Epiphany
We listened to Scripture, Matthew 2:1-2, 10-11
"Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea, during the time when Herod was king. Soon afterwards, some men who studied the stars came from the East to Jerusalem 2 and asked, “Where is the baby born to be the king of the Jews? We saw his star when it came up in the east, and we have come to worship him.”
When they saw the star, how happy they were, what joy was theirs! It went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was. They went into the stable and when they saw the child with his mother Mary, they knelt down and worshipped him. They brought out their gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and presented them to him."
In Nursery, we focused on the star the Magi were following. The star of wonder – because they didn’t know what they were going to find, they were wondering about it. We made and wore crowns to be like the kings/Magi and we used role play as the three kings to follow a star. We made some beautiful star shaped sun catchers.
Prophecy and Promise
This term, we will be exploring the wonderful story of Jesus’ birth, learning about the special promises made before He was born and the joyful events that took place in the stable at Bethlehem. The children will discover who came to visit baby Jesus, including the shepherds and the wise men, through stories, songs, role play, and creative activities. It will be a lovely opportunity for the children to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and to share in the excitement and wonder of this very special story.
Our beautiful Nativity
The children were amazing stars and angels in our Early Years Nativity, performing in front of a full audience. They all joined in, sang and did the actions beautifully. We are so proud of them.
Re-telling the Christmas story
The children loved using the stable and figures to retell the Christmas story, bringing the Nativity to life with great enthusiasm and imagination.
Making a Nursery Crib
We talked about the special crib that baby Jesus would have lay in and wondered whether it would have been comfortable filled with soft straw. We compared it to what babies sleep in today and talked about the differences. The children worked together to make a class crib, adding different materials to make it more stable and cosy. Some children then wanted to create their own individual cribs and we were delighted to see so many wonderful and imaginative designs.
The long journey to Bethlehem
We looked at a map to see how far Mary, Joseph, and the donkey had to travel to Bethlehem. We talked together about their journey and how long it might have taken. One child wondered why they didn’t travel by boat! The children then acted out the story, taking on the roles of Mary, Joseph and the donkey as they went on the long journey.
Advent wreath making, prayers and Christmas crafts for our wonderful parents
We loved welcoming parents into our Nursery classroom for our Advent wreath-making and craft afternoon. With help from our parents, we made a beautiful class Advent wreath to add to our class Altar. The children also wrote Advent promises to hang on our school Christmas tree, made festive Christmas crackers and enjoyed some delicious mince pies!It was a wonderful afternoon spent with our special families—everyone was happy and full of Christmas cheer. Thank you so much for coming!
The Annunciation
We have listened very carefully to some scripture (Luke 1: 26-31,38)
We have been retelling this beautiful story in our role-play area, using props and costumes to bring it to life. The children have also been thinking carefully about how Mary might have been feeling, showing such empathy and curiosity as they explored the story together.
We used our art skills to make some of our own beautiful Angel Gabriel's.

Learning About Remembrance Day in Nursery
We have been exploring why people wear poppies at this time of year, talking about the people who help us and thinking about those we want to hold in our thoughts. The children watched a beautiful, calming animation about a young rabbit travelling through the poppy fields, which helped them understand the themes of peace, kindness and hope in a very gentle way. It has been a thoughtful and reassuring time for the children as they begin to learn about this special tradition.
The children enjoyed creating their own poppy artwork after watching the animation. They painted beautiful poppies and poppy fields using watercolours, inspired by the gentle scenes they saw with the little rabbit. The children also used play dough to make their own poppies, carefully shaping and decorating them as they talked about the colours and patterns they noticed.
We gave thanks to God for all the beautiful poppies and for the very special people we remember at this time of year.
Caring for our beautiful garden
The children have been enjoying exploring our beautiful garden area, showing great curiosity and care for the world around them. They have been noticing what is growing, spotting different bugs and creatures and talking about the changes they can see. Together, we have been learning how to look after plants, insects, and all living things that share our garden. Through these experiences, the children are developing their sense of stewardship and responsibility, understanding that we all play a part in caring for our environment. It’s wonderful to see their excitement and pride as they help our garden to thrive!
Looking after God's wonderful world
The children have been very busy taking care of our allotment in the school’s beautiful outdoor area. They have been digging the soil, pulling up weeds, and checking how the plants and seeds are growing. We’ve been talking together about how important it is to look after God’s wonderful world and to care for all the living things He has made. Everyone has enjoyed helping our garden grow!
Diwali
This week in Nursery, the children have been learning about Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. They enjoyed exploring colourful rangoli patterns and creating their own beautiful diya lamps. Through these activities, the children have begun to understand how people celebrate Diwali with light, colour, and togetherness. It has been a wonderful opportunity to explore different cultures and celebrate the joy of learning about festivals from around the world.
Learning about God's Creation
In Nursery, we listened to the Bible’s first story — the story of how God made the world. We listened to how God created the moon and stars for night-time and the sun to shine during the day. He made the seas, the sky, the soil, the grass and all the plants that grow. God made fruits and vegetables, fish and birds and all kinds of animals — so many wonderful things!
The children loved hearing how God created everything, starting with the dark, then adding the blue sky, the shining sun, the water, the animals and all the beauty of the world. God kept adding more and more until He was very happy and He said, “It is very good.”
God Loves Everyone
In nursery today, we listened to the parable of "The Lost Sheep" to help us understand that God loves everyone, no matter what. The story showed us how God cares for each one of us, just like the shepherd who looked for his one lost sheep. After the story, we had fun making sheep pictures in the creative area, using cotton wool and some sequins for a bit of extra sparkle. It was a wonderful way to remember how special we all are!
Welcoming Our Grandparents
This afternoon we were delighted to welcome our grandparents into Nursery. We shared a very special prayer time together, sang some of our beautiful new songs and proudly showed them around our classroom. It was a wonderful afternoon and we loved having them with us.
The Very Special Bible
This week in Nursery we have been learning about the very special Bible and why it is important to Christians. We discovered that the Bible is full of stories and teachings that show us how much God loves us. It reminds us that we are all part of God’s special family, and that He cares for each one of us. In Nursery we are also getting to know one another and learning how to be kind and special friends.
God made me
This week we have been learning that God made each of us and that we are all very special to Him. We enjoyed singing I’ve Got a Body and thought about how amazing our bodies are – they are important, they help us do so many things and they go everywhere with us. Together we used chalks to draw around our bodies and noticed the different shapes and sizes we could see. We talked about how no two bodies are exactly the same and how that makes each of us unique and wonderful. Through this we celebrated that God made us just the way we are and that He loves and cares for every single one of us.
"I've got a body,
a very busy body
and it goes everywhere with me."
God loves me and God loves everyone
In Nursery we have been painting self-portraits to celebrate how we are all unique and special. This activity helps us to look closely at ourselves, think about what makes us who we are and express this through art. It’s a wonderful way to remind us that God loves each of us just as we are, and that He loves everyone.
Exploring God's wonderful world.
This week, our nursery children went on a special walk to the school field to explore God’s wonderful world. As they walked through the grass and trees, they collected a variety of beautiful leaves, each one a reminder of God's amazing creation. The children were full of joy as they discovered different colours, shapes, and textures and brought them back to the classroom. We are now using these natural treasures to create self-portraits, celebrating the uniqueness of each child and the beauty of the world God has made.
Celebrating Our Lady's Birthday
In Nursery, we have been talking about how Mary is the mother of Jesus. Just like our own mummies, Mary is deeply loved and important. We are learning a beautiful prayer to help us think about her and feel close to God.
Lovely Lady dressed in blue,
teach us how to pray,
your little Son was Jesus
and you know the way, Amen
We looked at images of Our Lady and shared our thoughts together. We talked about how Mary is loved by many and how she reminds us of the love and care we receive from our own mummies. Each day in Nursery, we will say this beautiful prayer to Mary together.
