Last Forest School Session

What a lovely way to finish our final Forest School session today! The children enjoyed toasting brioche over a wood fire and were very excited to taste their delicious treats. Before we started, we talked carefully about fire safety and how to stay safe around the flames. The children followed the rules brilliantly, including blowing on their toasted brioche for 20 seconds before checking it was cool enough to eat. It was a wonderful session full of fun, learning and outdoor adventure. We also spent some time planting pumpkins and courgettes, which the children were very enthusiastic about.

An exciting time for Nursery

We were delighted to be take part in the Nursery Rhyme event at Springfield Primary School organised by Trafford Music Service.  The Nursery children absolutely loved their journey on the coach and they joined in singing 12 Nursery Rhymes.

Forest School

We have had another wonderful session at Forest School this week. The children enjoyed exploring the outdoor area to collect natural materials to make fairy houses and fairy soup. We also became nature detectives, searching carefully for mini beasts and discovering worms, millipedes, woodlice and beetles. The children were especially excited to find a snail in the playground and enjoyed observing it closely before returning it safely to its habitat.

Mathematics

This afternoon in nursery, we have been learning about sequencing and talking about the order of events in our day. The children sorted picture cards into morning and afternoon hoops and discussed daily routines such as getting out of bed, eating breakfast and putting on pyjamas.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

We have been thoroughly enjoying reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Through this story, we have been learning all about the days of the week and the life cycle of a caterpillar and how it transforms into a beautiful butterfly. We have also explored patterns and discovered what the word “symmetrical” means, even creating our own symmetrical butterfly paintings. The children have enjoyed completing a bug hunt in our beautiful garden, where they found all sorts of exciting creatures hiding under logs and in the bushes. Please ask your child about this at home.

We loved visiting and reading stories at the Book Fair with our special friends in Year 5
Some learning this week

In PSHE this week, we have been learning about empathy through the book Diego's Idea, thinking about how we can understand and care about the feelings of others. We talked about the importance of kindness and inclusion and played a game where everyone could join in and feel part of the fun. The children have also been busy enjoying lots of other activities, including drawing, painting, water play and building towers, developing their creativity and teamwork skills.

Fruit Kebabs

This week, we have been enjoying the story Oliver’s Vegetables by Vivian French, exploring different fruits and vegetables through Oliver’s adventures. To bring the story to life, the children had great fun making their own fruit kebabs, carefully choosing and threading a variety of colourful fruits. It was a wonderful opportunity to encourage healthy eating while developing fine motor skills—and of course, everyone enjoyed eating their delicious creations at snack time!

Outdoor Learning
We loved having our drink and snack outside in our lovely garden area

Forest School Fun

The nursery children really enjoyed their Forest School session, exploring the outdoor area with curiosity and enthusiasm. They learned about plants to avoid, such as nettles and brambles, helping them to stay safe while they explored. It was a fun experience that encouraged both learning and a love of the outdoors.

Flamenco Dancing

We had such a fun and exciting day dressing up in Spanish colours and  trying some Flamenco dancing! Excellent  dance moves from everyone.
