PSHE in Action
Year 6 - Crucial Crew
Year 6 took part in Trafford’s Crucial Crew event as part of our PSHE learning. Across Tuesday morning, the children worked with a range of professionals and services to learn about staying safe, making responsible choices, and treating others with respect. Sessions included:
-
Road Safety – developing awareness of hazards, risk assessment and how to stay safe as pedestrians and road users.
-
Trafford Youth Services – learning about gender imbalance, misogyny and respectful relationships, understanding how stereotypes and attitudes can harm others and what to do if something feels unsafe or unfair.
-
Transport for Greater Manchester – learning how to travel safely and responsibly, including safe choices when using public transport.
-
Level Up: Fairness in Sport – exploring equality, respect, teamwork and inclusion, and challenging discrimination in sport and wider society.
-
Metrolink Safety – understanding how to travel safely on the Metrolink and what to do in emergencies.
-
British Transport Police and local PCSOs – learning about personal safety, recognising risky situations, and practical strategies on how to avoid becoming a victim of crime, including how and when to seek help.
-
Thank you for all of the Services for helping us prepare so well for transition to secondary school!
Year 6 and Reception - Buddy Time Reunions!
Year 6 had a wonderful time during Buddy Time this week as they were reunited with their Reception buddies. It was lovely to see the children back together, chatting, smiling and sharing special moments — just like old friends! We tried to be fantastic role models, showing kindness, patience and encouragement as they listened carefully and helped their buddies feel confident and included. These Buddy Time conversations are so valuable, helping to strengthen communication skills, build friendships across the school and nurture a real sense of family within our school community.
Year 1 – Adults in school
This week we have been talking about adults in school. We thought about all the different adults that work in school and how they could help us. The children wrote down the person they know they can speak to in school if they are worried about anything. Although we have adults we prefer to talk to we talked about how all adults in school are here to keep the children safe.
Reception - Exploring our need for kindness in how we act with each other
We have been learning what kindness is and how we can be part of a class where we all feel safe.
Nursery
In PSHE, we have been learning about emotions and how our words can affect others. We carried out an activity using two apples. One apple was passed around the circle while we used unkind words such as, “Your skin isn’t nice and shiny” and “I don’t think you will taste very nice.” The second apple was then passed around and we used kind words like, “You look tasty and juicy” and “Your skin is beautiful and red.” When we cut open the apples, we could see the difference on the inside. This helped us understand that words can hurt or help, even if we can’t see it straight away, just like how our words affect our friends.
Year 6 – Bikeability
Every single Year 6 children achieved their proficiency in cycling qualification. A huge thanks to the Bikeability Team for all their instruction. We had a Wheelie good time and braved all sorts of weather!
Year 6 – PSHE
A huge thank you to the team from Healthy Schools who came to speak to Year 6 about the dangers presented by smoking and e-cigarettes in a workshop about the dangers of e-cigarettes and vaping.
Year 6 - World Mental Health Day-Friday 10th October
In Year 6, we celebrated World Mental Health Day by recognising that everyone has mental health, just like we all have physical health. We explored some of the challenges that children can face—such as worries, self-esteem, friendships, and managing emotions—and discussed how it’s okay to talk about our feelings and ask for help when we need it.
We reflected on the lyrics of “Both Sides Now” by Joni Mitchell and “This Is Me” from The Greatest Showman, thinking about what these songs tell us about self-acceptance, resilience, and understanding ourselves and others. Inspired by these ideas, we created expressive self-portraits to celebrate who we are and wrote powerful emotion poems that captured our thoughts and feelings.
We made links between our physical and mental health and the importance of healthy friendships, online habits and sleep.
It was a thoughtful and creative day, reminding us that our mental health matters — every day of the year.
Year 6 – Buddy Lunch
In our roles as mentors and leaders we met up with our buddies in Reception for lunch. We had so much valuable talk time.
Year 5 - World Mental Health Day
Today we talked about how God made us all unique and blessed us with special gifts and talents. We were inspired to create a piece of art to share what our gifts and talents are and what makes us happy.
Year 5 - PSHE
We have been learning about friendships and the ups and downs that can happen within them. In groups, we discussed different issues someone might face in a friendship and came up with advice on how those problems could be solved.
Year 4 - Heart of Gold Award- The First of the Year
This Golden award was given to a very special young man as he showed a tremendous amount of care and consideration for other peoples' feelings and helped some of the younger children when they were feeling a little under the weather. What a lovely, helpful young person. We are lucky to have him in our beautiful class.

Year 1 - Healthy Relationships
We shared different statements and decided if they were friendly or unfriendly. We talked about how we can show kindness and have healthy relationships.
Year 1 - Friendships
We have been talking about how to be a good friend. We listen to others, we are kind and helpful, we take turns, we smile and show our love and care.
Reception - Our Feelings
We have been looking at emotions in PSHE. We have talked about how our bodies and voices can change when we feel different emotions and that these feelings can come and go. We have been linking different feelings to different colours. Red is anger, green is calm, yellow is happy and blue is sad. We used the "Mood Meter" to identify the emotions.
Reception - Today has been World Mental Health Day. We read a beautiful book called You Be You. We know that we can look different to each other, like different things and wear different things but inside we all have a heart that we can use to love and show kindness to all. To celebrate that we are all unique and special, we drew a self-portrait of ourselves.
Nursery - We love working with our Year 6 prefects
We feel very lucky in Nursery to have some wonderful Year 6 prefects who come over to work with the children each week. The children love spending time with them—playing games, sharing stories, and enjoying the special attention of their older role models. Their visits help to build confidence, encourage positive relationships across the school and create a lovely sense of community. We are so grateful for the kindness and enthusiasm our prefects bring to Nursery.
Nursery - Getting ready for bonfire night
Year 2 - School Values
Key Stage 1 playtime has lots of teamwork today!
Year 2 - PSHE
During our PSHE lessons we have been learning about our families and exploring how different families are and importantly, what our families provide for us.
