Thursday Prayer Service
Each Thursday morning at 8:45am, our school community gathers together for a Whole School Prayer Service. This special time of prayer allows pupils and staff to come together to listen to God’s Word, reflect and pray as one community.
Throughout the year, each class takes a turn to lead the prayer service for the half-term, preparing readings, prayers and reflections to share with the rest of the school. These moments provide pupils with the opportunity to develop confidence in leading prayer while helping everyone grow in faith and understanding.
Our Thursday prayer services are a meaningful way for us to begin the day together, reflecting on the Gospel message and thinking about how we can live out Jesus’ teachings through kindness, compassion and service to others.
Led by Year 4
Year 4 held a prayer service centred on the theme The Dignity of the Human Person. The children participated through prayer and reflection, responded by singing If I Were a Butterfly, and shared their understanding by writing their own ways they show love and respect for others. The service highlighted the importance of valuing every person as unique and loved by God.
Year 4 led a prayer service focused on the theme Solidarity – We Are One Family in God’s Love. Through prayer and reflection, the students explored how we are called to love and support one another as one family in Christ. The service was inspired by the Bible quote John 13:34, reminding us of Jesus’ command to love one another as He loves us.
Led by Year 5
Year 5 led a reverent and thoughtful prayer service in honour of the Immaculate Conception, celebrating Mary’s “yes” and her special role in God’s plan. Through prayer, reflection, and beautiful readings, the children helped our school community deepen our understanding of Mary’s purity, faith, and obedience. This celebration inspired us all to follow her example of trust and love.
Advent
Our Year 5 pupils led a beautiful Advent prayer service, guiding our school community in preparing our hearts for the coming of Jesus. Through readings and prayers, they reminded us of the hope, peace, joy, and love that Advent brings. We are proud of their reverence and leadership as we begin this special season together.
Christ the King
Today we gathered together for a special prayer service to celebrate the Feast of Christ the King. The celebration included beautiful readings thoughtfully shared by our Year 5 pupils, helping us to reflect on Jesus as our King who leads with love, service and compassion. Through prayer and scripture, we were reminded that Christ calls us to follow His example by showing kindness, humility and care for others in our daily lives.
Mary Our Mother
During the special month of October, the Month of the Holy Rosary, we gather together in prayer to honour Mary, the Mother of Jesus and our Mother too. Through praying the Rosary, we reflect on important moments in the life of Jesus and ask Mary to guide us closer to her Son.
This time of prayer helps our school community to grow in faith, peace and reflection as we follow Mary’s example of love, trust and obedience to God.
National Kindness Day
To mark National Kindness Day, our Year 5 pupils led a thoughtful and reflective prayer service for the school community. Through scripture, prayer and reflection, the children reminded us of the importance of showing kindness, compassion and respect to one another each day.
The service encouraged us all to follow the example of Jesus by caring for others, offering a helping hand and spreading kindness within our school and wider community. It was a meaningful opportunity for us to pause, reflect and consider how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of others.
Led by Year 6
Joseph and Lana led a beautiful Prayer and Liturgy celebration of the Word on the theme Mary, Our Mother. With reverence and confidence, we shared Scripture, reflections, and prayers that reminded us of Mary’s faith, courage, humility, generosity, resilience, and silence in prayer. Through artwork, some beautifully chosen music and the spoken word, they showed Mary’s example and her special place in God’s plan.
We respond by striving, like Mary, to say “yes” to God in our daily lives, showing courage when faced with challenges, humility in our actions, generosity in our service. Together, as a school community, we placed our own prayer intentions before Mary, asking her to watch over us and guide us ever closer to her Son, Jesus.
