Spring

Art

This week we looked at painting printing. Overlapping our prints with another colour to look at colour mixing too.

Computing

We continued developing our computer skills this week and the use of a mouse pad. We logged onto the laptops, found the website and select tools to create our own pieces of work.

Funky Fingers

We continue to work on our fine motor control through fun activities. This helps to build our control when using a pencil, forming letters correctly and working on our handwriting.

Phonics

Some great reading, spelling and writing in phonics this week. Applying our knowledge and carrying out our school values – trying your best in all things.

Class novel

This half-term we are reading 'Cinnamon'. The children are enjoying following the text in their own copy. We discuss the tricky words that they may not know the meaning too. This week we discussed the meaning of the words 'cultivated', 'cursing', 'quell' and 'frustrated'.

PE

We played many fun games in Pe, working on our team-building skills.

Art

This week we looked at applying our knowledge of colour mixing when painting, using primary colours to make secondary colours. We looked at the artist Jasper Johns who created a piece of art 'Numbers in Color' (1958-1959). We then created our own artwork based on his idea.

Computing

We have been looking at the website 'Sketchpad'. The children loved exploring the tolls they can use to create amazing pictures. They blew me away with how quickly they learnt to use Sketchpad, using different effects,m adding stamps and text.

Maths

Today we went on a shape hunt around school. We looked for both 2D shapes and 3D shapes. ur favourite shape we found was the disco ball sphere.

PSHE

This week we have been talking about adults in school. We thought about all the different adults that work in school and how they could help us. The children wrote down the person they know they can speak to in school if they are worried about anything. Although we have adults we prefer to talk to we talked about how all adults in school are here to keep the children safe.

Computing and Maths

The children loved going on to Numbots on the iPads. A great way to engage children, developing their understanding of numbers whilst developing their knowledge of using an iPad safely.

Art

This week in art we used poster paints to create our secondary colour mixing chart. We also added in a little maths talking about how we have made an addition sentence.

Maths – Radiating Patterns

This week we have been looking at different types of patterns and shapes. The children have made repeating patterns, learnt about a unit of pattern and then developed further to create their own radiating pattern.

Continuous Provision

The children have been working so hard this half-term. We still need time with our friends to build relationships, develop our speaking and listening skills, build our social understanding whilst having lots of fun.

Art - Colouring Mixing

To start our new art topic of colour mixing, we used plasticine to mix the primary colours (red, blue, yellow). We then found that by mixing the colours we were able to make secondary colours. This was also a great activity to help support fine motor skills.

Computing

We have been learning how to log onto the laptops using our own usernames. We talked about the importance of keeping safe online and that we don't share our passwords with other people.

Maths

In our Mastering Number we have been looking at how numbers are made. The children have used the stem sentence '8 is made of 2 and 6, 2 and 6 makes 8' to show their understanding. We have looked at ways of making all numbers to 10.

PE Dance

We have discussed the weather and how we can use counts of 8 to move in time and perform a dance that looks interesting. Thinking about the use of height and levels, showing clear actions. The children shred there dances with each other to finish. Children then made kind comments about each others performance.
