Autumn
History
As part of this half-term's topic of Anglo-Saxons and Vikings, Year 5 visited Tatton Park where we were greeted by Harold Bloodaxe who put us through our paces with beginners Viking training. We also helped to thresh the wheat and grind it into flour and made some colourful braids to trade with the Vikings.
Art
We have been exploring street art this half-term, in particular Keith Haring, who took his inspiration from his experiences of 1980s New York.
World Mental Health Day
Today we talked about how God made us all unique and blessed us with special gifts and talents. We were inspired to create a piece of art to share what our gifts and talents are and what makes us happy.
P.E. - Fitness
P.S.H.E
We have been learning about friendships and the ups and downs that can happen within them. In groups, we discussed different issues someone might face in a friendship and came up with advice on how those problems could be solved.
P.E.
When we run, we try hard to run at a sensible pace. We have worked really hard to find a pace that we can keep up for the whole run.
Science
We have been looking at the different ways plants reproduce. Today we took a cutting from a spider plant and will observe how it grows. We also decided that we would like to see what happens to a potato if we kept it in a dark spot.
English
To help us develop our ideas, we talked to each other about events in our life. We were able to ask lots of questions to find out more information from those in our group.
