Prophecy and Promise

Here is what we will be learning in Autumn 2.

Prophecy and Promise

Caring for our beautiful garden

The children have been enjoying exploring our beautiful garden area, showing great curiosity and care for the world around them. They have been noticing what is growing, spotting different bugs and creatures and talking about the changes they can see. Together, we have been learning how to look after plants, insects, and all living things that share our garden. Through these experiences, the children are developing their sense of stewardship and responsibility, understanding that we all play a part in caring for our environment. It’s wonderful to see their excitement and pride as they help our garden to thrive!

Looking after God's wonderful world

The children have been very busy taking care of our allotment in the school’s beautiful outdoor area. They have been digging the soil, pulling up weeds, and checking how the plants and seeds are growing. We’ve been talking together about how important it is to look after God’s wonderful world and to care for all the living things He has made. Everyone has enjoyed helping our garden grow!

Diwali

This week in Nursery, the children have been learning about Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. They enjoyed exploring colourful rangoli patterns and creating their own beautiful diya lamps. Through these activities, the children have begun to understand how people celebrate Diwali with light, colour, and togetherness. It has been a wonderful opportunity to explore different cultures and celebrate the joy of learning about festivals from around the world.

Learning about God's Creation

In Nursery, we listened to the Bible’s first story — the story of how God made the world. We listened to how God created the moon and stars for night-time and the sun to shine during the day. He made the seas, the sky, the soil, the grass and all the plants that grow. God made fruits and vegetables, fish and birds and all kinds of animals — so many wonderful things!

The children loved hearing how God created everything, starting with the dark, then adding the blue sky, the shining sun, the water, the animals and all the beauty of the world. God kept adding more and more until He was very happy and He said, “It is very good.”

God Loves Everyone

In nursery today, we listened to the parable of "The Lost Sheep" to help us understand that God loves everyone, no matter what. The story showed us how God cares for each one of us, just like the shepherd who looked for his one lost sheep. After the story, we had fun making sheep pictures in the creative area, using cotton wool and some sequins for a bit of extra sparkle. It was a wonderful way to remember how special we all are!

Welcoming Our Grandparents

This afternoon we were delighted to welcome our grandparents into Nursery. We shared a very special prayer time together, sang some of our beautiful new songs and proudly showed them around our classroom. It was a wonderful afternoon and we loved having them with us.

 The Very Special Bible

This week in Nursery we have been learning about the very special Bible and why it is important to Christians. We discovered that the Bible is full of stories and teachings that show us how much God loves us. It reminds us that we are all part of God’s special family, and that He cares for each one of us. In Nursery we are also getting to know one another and learning how to be kind and special friends.

God made me

This week we have been learning that God made each of us and that we are all very special to Him. We enjoyed singing I’ve Got a Body and thought about how amazing our bodies are – they are important, they help us do so many things and they go everywhere with us. Together we used chalks to draw around our bodies and noticed the different shapes and sizes we could see. We talked about how no two bodies are exactly the same and how that makes each of us unique and wonderful. Through this we celebrated that God made us just the way we are and that He loves and cares for every single one of us.

"I've got a body,

a very busy body

and it goes everywhere with me."

God loves me and God loves everyone

In Nursery we have been painting self-portraits to celebrate how we are all unique and special. This activity helps us to look closely at ourselves, think about what makes us who we are and express this through art. It’s a wonderful way to remind us that God loves each of us just as we are, and that He loves everyone.

Exploring God's wonderful world.

This week, our nursery children went on a special walk to the school field to explore God’s wonderful world. As they walked through the grass and trees, they collected a variety of beautiful leaves, each one a reminder of God's amazing creation. The children were full of joy as they discovered different colours, shapes, and textures and brought them back to the classroom. We are now using these natural treasures to create self-portraits, celebrating the uniqueness of each child and the beauty of the world God has made.

Celebrating Our Lady's Birthday

In Nursery, we have been talking about how Mary is the mother of Jesus. Just like our own mummies, Mary is deeply loved and important. We are learning a beautiful prayer to help us think about her and feel close to God.

Lovely Lady dressed in blue,

teach us how to pray,

your little Son was Jesus

and you know the way, Amen

We looked at images of Our Lady and shared our thoughts together. We talked about how Mary is loved by many and how she reminds us of the love and care we receive from our own mummies. Each day in Nursery, we will say this beautiful prayer to Mary together.
